About

Hamish Robertson is Product Manager, Drives and Automation at TECO Australia & New Zealand, based in Brisbane. He is responsible for TECO’s variable speed drive and soft starter ranges in Australia and New Zealand, and works with OEMs, system integrators, electrical contractors and end users on drive selection, application set-up and product training.

Hamish has worked in industrial electrical engineering for more than 30 years. He started as a sales engineer with a variable speed drive manufacturer in New Zealand, covering Wellington, Auckland and later the South Island as regional manager, then moved to Sydney and Brisbane, where his territory also included Papua New Guinea. Since then he has worked in motor and drive sales, product management for low-voltage and high-voltage motors, key account management and business development in industrial electrical services and power electronics. That background means he looks at a drive the way the customer does, from specification and commissioning through to maintenance over the life of the plant.

Hamish helps the customer size the drive, set the parameters and plan any cabling or filtering changes so the retrofit works the first time.

Hamish holds the New Zealand Certificate in Engineering (NZCE) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Central Institute of Technology and an Electrical Advanced Trade Certificate from the Waikato Institute of Technology. In 2023 he completed a Professional Certificate of Competency in Hydrogen Energy with the Engineering Institute of Technology.
