Compact Closed-Loop Soft Starter | 18–200 A | Up to 575 VAC
The TECO RSXi is a compact closed-loop soft starter designed for fixed-speed motor applications from 18 to 200 A, operating up to 575 VAC with an internal bypass included as standard. It is built for installations where the requirement is clear: controlled, reliable motor starting and stopping, integrated motor protection, and a compact footprint that simplifies panel design, without adding system complexity that the application does not warrant.
Where a motor is started direct-on-line, full voltage is applied immediately. The result is inrush current at six to eight times the motor’s rated value and an instantaneous torque transfer through whatever is connected to the shaft impellers, belts, couplings, gearboxes. The mechanical stress this introduces may not be catastrophic on the first start. It is cumulative. Repeated uncontrolled starts accelerate wear on driven equipment in ways that rarely get traced back to starting behaviour until a bearing fails early or a coupling requires unplanned replacement. The TECO RSXi addresses this directly. By regulating the current applied during acceleration and reducing voltage progressively at shutdown, it controls the rate of torque transfer through the drivetrain on every start cycle, not just under observation.
Motor protection is built in as standard, removing the need for separate overload relays, phase monitors or thermistor modules in the panel. For rural pump stations, compact MCC installations and DOL or star-delta replacement projects across Australia and New Zealand, that integration reduces wiring complexity, panel footprint and commissioning time in a single specification decision.
The TECO RSXi is the correct specification when the motor is within the 18–200 A range, the application is well-defined, and adaptive acceleration profiling, active braking or advanced diagnostics are not genuine requirements. TECO RSXi is a robust, low-maintenance solution with an operational life of up to one million operations on smaller frame sizes and zero harmonic emission in the run state — relevant wherever supply power quality is a consideration.
